attending: attending physician. the senior doctor. essentially, what people imagine when people say “doctor.” a fully trained, supervising doctor who oversees our team of medical students and residents

clinical rotations: third year of medical school in most medical schools is a series of time blocks (weeks) that we are required to spend time in each of the most common/general medical specialties so we can gain clinical experience and have better insight as to what specialty we would ultimately like to choose.

clerkships: synonymous to clinical rotations

pt: abbreviation for patient

rounds/rounding/pre rounding: rounding is to formally discuss your patients with the team. “john smith is a 45 year old male who presented with…”
